Between Religion and Man: Is Religion a Part of Us or Merely Inherited

Between Religion and Man: Is Religion a Part of Us or Merely Inherited

This topic is extremely complex—indeed, one could say it is among the most intricate issues in human history. It has ignited wars, massacres, accusations, and endless conflicts. But before we delve deep into this question, we must pause for a moment and ask ourselves a fateful question:

Did atheists have any right in what they claimed?

Did they have the right to deny the existence of God because, according to their claim, the idea of religions was the cause of igniting conflicts, shedding blood, and destroying societies? Just look at the bloody conflict that erupted between Pakistan and India due to the dispute between Islam and Hinduism. Or the tragedy of Palestine, where the Muslim Palestinian people are crushed daily by the Zionist Israelis, who claim that this land is theirs because it is mentioned in their religion and is the inheritance of their ancestors!

If we want to understand this grand debate, we must first delve into the mindset of the atheist... How does he think? And why does he reject the existence of God?

Are atheists right or not?

The atheists' idea is simply that there is no such thing as "God" in the first place.

They believe that the idea of a deity is nothing but a myth woven from imagination, and they describe those who believe in it as naive, perhaps even stupid! If someone asks you a question and you don’t answer with a logical, scientific response that convinces them, they will immediately accuse you of ignorance and denial, seeing your faith as a baseless myth or something beyond the mind's capacity to believe.

And if we ask them: How did the universe begin?
They will answer with the "Big Bang Theory," saying that the universe was initially an enormous accumulation of gases at a specific point, then a violent reaction occurred, leading to a massive explosion. The gases expanded, and everything was made of gas—especially hydrogen and helium. The universe expanded and began to cool, and over billions of years, gravity gathered this matter to form stars, galaxies, planets, and everything in the universe—even you.

But if you pose just four questions to them:

  1. Why is Earth, specifically, the only planet that harbored life?

  2. Why are there no other creatures capable of adapting to the environments of other planets as we have?

  3. What is the true purpose of our existence on this Earth?

  4. Where do we go after we die?

You won’t find a definitive answer.
And if they attempt to answer, you’ll find them fleeing toward what they call "science," speaking of probabilities and myths without proof.

In the end, to them, humans have become the sacred beings!
All they want is to be happier—to earn more money, live a more beautiful life, and the more they can entertain people, the higher their income and social respect!
This, in short, is part of their philosophy.

Then one of them comes and asks you:
How can you believe in a God you’ve never seen with your own eyes?
You simply reply: Just as I believe in electricity when I see a lit bulb, even though I’ve never seen electricity itself!

Yes... In this world, there are many signs that scream and prove the existence of something magnificent, beyond our human capacity—something difficult to believe with the mind alone...
A God who created everything, from the smallest to the largest, with astonishing precision and an awe-inspiring system.

Now... Let’s set aside their way of thinking and begin our own search for God!

The Journey to Unravel the Mystery and Truth:

But let’s start with a simple question…
If most religions agree that God created a first father and mother, and from them human reproduction began, is it logical that this father and mother would not know who God is?
Of course not!
In nearly all religious narratives, we hear that they descended from heaven, or were created from the blood of God, or had a direct connection to the divine—meaning they knew who God was, how to worship Him, and how to follow Him.
If that is the case, then why do all these different religions exist?
Why didn’t true religious knowledge pass clearly from parents to children?
Why did all these diverse beliefs, rituals, and conflicts arise between those who claim to possess the "absolute truth"?
Naturally, children inherit their parents' religion, and logically, they follow the same path. If the matter had been clear from the beginning, we wouldn’t have witnessed all this division!

Here lies the dilemma…
Religion, before being a conviction, is first an inheritance.
You didn’t choose your religion the moment you became conscious; you inherited it from your family, your upbringing, your environment—whether it was right or wrong.
After that, the journey of free choice begins… but after what? After you’ve already been saturated with a faith you didn’t choose, but were born into.

And here, the situation is truly perplexing…
How can we trust that our religion is "the truth" if we didn’t choose it ourselves?
And do we have the courage to question, research, and move beyond everything we’ve inherited if needed?
Or will we remain prisoners of what we were born into, shutting the door on anyone who asks?

After reading a vast number of religious books and contemplating the conclusions of philosophers, I’ve reached a certainty that burns within me: that religion, in its beginnings, was one… a unified religion that brought all of humanity together, from the greatest to the smallest, from the farthest to the nearest.

Everyone was of one heart, believing and walking the path of light.
But time changed…
As humans multiplied and spread across the earth, natural disasters came—thunderbolts, earthquakes, plagues—that shook the universe, uprooted its foundations, and tore its bonds apart!

Those who carried knowledge died, those who preserved the message were gone, and only a new generation remained… a generation of weak faith, fragile connection, and faded memory!
Then came another generation after them, even weaker in faith, until religion was forgotten, the truth vanished, and the light of innate understanding was extinguished.

Decades passed…
And a sense of deficiency began to creep into the depths of humanity…
What is the purpose? What is the goal? Why do we exist?
They tried to return to the origin, to retrace the path, but they failed.
So they did nothing but create religions of their own making, from their imagination, aligning with their interests and satisfying their deep curiosity about one question:
Why are we here?

A question that has puzzled every creature…

Even the angels, even the devils, couldn’t answer it!
Why did God create humans who disobey Him, spread corruption, and shed blood, while there are pure, sinless beings who worship Him tirelessly?
Why create a weak, fragile human, when He has angels who never disobey and mighty devils of great power?
Why?
What is the wisdom behind creating humans, who commit sins and are worshipped by only a few?
Why in the first place?!
No one has answered this question definitively…
But merely asking it ignites the flames of thought and unleashes the search for an answer…
Who are we? Why do we exist? And what does God want from this human?

Quite simply: the mind!

God created angels from light to worship Him without hesitation—they obey His command and execute what is asked of them to the letter. They possess immense power and formidable authority, but they lack the ability to change things or control them by their own will… They are slaves to command, not decision-makers!

As for humans, God created them with a mind—a mind capable of planning, innovating, and controlling, a mind that can cultivate the earth, develop it, and change it…
But because humans are physically weak, fragile in the face of hardships, and unable to survive alone… God subjugated everything for them!
He subjugated the universe for them, the earth for them, and even the mighty angels themselves.

And here… the fire of envy appeared…
The devils!

How could this weak creature have authority surpassing theirs?

How could a weak human be favored over them?
So the devil swore to distance this human from God… But, pay attention!
All the devil’s power is confined to temptation—he cannot harm humans unless they choose to distance themselves from their Lord, because God is the Protector, the Guardian, the One capable of nullifying all schemes.

The scene is exactly like that of a great father ruling the kingdom of the universe, with three children:
Two of them are strong, obeying Him without question, doing exactly as they are told.
The third is physically weak but possesses something the others do not: a mind!
He performs miracles, innovates on earth, changes, develops, builds…
So the father loved him, showed him mercy, honored him, and placed the entire universe—even his brothers—at his service.
One brother became angry and refused…
While the other obeyed, but in bewilderment.

That is the story of humanity!

But… so that this human does not become arrogant, so that he does not forget where he came from or drown in the illusion of power, God established three things to keep him in obedience and remind him of his weakness:

  1. Heaven and Hell: In the afterlife, after death, for reward and punishment.

  2. Disease and Natural Disasters: In this world, to constantly remind him that he is not a creator, but a creation, with no control over his fate.

  3. Divine Laws and Commandments: Established by God to protect the earth from human corruption and prevent injustice, because if humans deviate, they can become more evil than the devil himself—but if they remain upright, they can rise above even the angels in obedience and faith!

From here, we arrive at a question that burns minds and ignites souls:

Who is God?

And of course, we say: Only one God!
Not multiple gods, because if there were more than one deity, the earth would be corrupted, the universe would be thrown into chaos, and the heavens would collapse.

The existence of this marvelous system and the astonishing cosmic order is blatant proof that there is only one God—no partners with Him!

For me… who is God?

He is not some ambiguous being watching from afar, nor a rigid force demanding blind obedience…
God, in my view, is a blend of the most beautiful traits and emotions contained in this existence—no, He is greater than them, too sublime to be confined to any description.

More merciful than a mother’s heart toward her child!
More just than a righteous father with his sons!

To this degree… and beyond…
He forgives those who disobey Him, pardons those who wrong Him, but He does not forgive those who oppress any of His creations—whether human, an animal living under his care, or a weak creature with no power of its own.

For God does not accept injustice.
And if a living being wrongs you, you have the right to defend yourself—even if it means killing that being—not because it is weak, but because it attacked!

God does not want mere obedience from you—He wants you to live… to enjoy… to rejoice in life!
He did not create you to harm yourself for His sake; He becomes angry when He sees you hurting yourself in His name!
If you worship Him day and night without rest, without joy, without enjoying life as He intended for you…
He will be sad, He will reprimand you, He will blame you—because He does not want you to forget yourself, but to find balance…
To savor life within the bounds He has set for you!

God wants only one thing from you:

That you go to Him, that you throw yourself into His embrace, that you talk to Him, that you complain to Him, that you share the details of your life with Him…
That you obey Him and trust Him… and in return, He will do for you what you desire.

But if you disobey Him?
He will not destroy you, nor punish you with Hell immediately… He will be sad…
And He will send you small trials—not as revenge, but as a wake-up call… so that perhaps you come to your senses, remember, and return…
And He will remain standing there, in the distance, waiting for you…
Waiting for you to return… to throw yourself into His arms once again.

No matter how much you sin…
No matter how many times you repeat your disobedience…
Even if it reaches a billion times!
If you repent, He will love you… He will rejoice in you…
And He will continue to love you, because He knows there is love for Him in your heart, even if your soul overcomes you in a moment.

God does not need a mediator between you and Him.
He only wants your respect, your love, your sincerity, your obedience…
He is the One who created you, subjected all that is in the heavens and the earth to you, and placed everything at your disposal.

And from here… we arrive at the final question:
Where do I find God?
And is religion truly an inheritance?

We must admit the truth…

Religion, for the most part, is inherited.
It is imposed on a child from infancy—not out of conviction, but as an automatic duty inherited from parents, who inherited it from their ancestors.
Instead of religion being a light that draws humans to it naturally, it has become a burden carried on their shoulders as "one of life’s tasks."

But… is this what God wanted?
Absolutely not.

God did not ask humans to follow Him without reason or thought.
He gave a reason for everything, a wisdom behind every prohibition.
He knows that the difference between humans and angels is the mind, which is why He does not accept blind obedience—He wants conscious faith, emerging from within, not inherited from without.

And that is why we must break this inherited chain.
We must teach our children about the existence of God… how to search for Him, how to discover Him for themselves…
If their religion is the truth, they will return to it by their own will, finding in it comfort and tranquility…
And they will love it, not because they were born into it, but because they came to know it.

And from here… we arrive at our final question:

How do we find God

God has left us many signs, clues, signals, and great miracles…
To guide us to the path toward Him.

But there is one miracle that was the seal… the last thing sent to us:
The Holy Book.

And after a long search…
I discovered that this book is the Holy Quran

The only book in which no error has been found—not in its language, not in its content, not in its meanings.
A book that, as you read it, you feel it is truly from God.
